With viewing figures of 1.402 million it is no wonder
that Outlander is so popular.
Entering into its fourth series to be aired in
September 18 filming is starting soon at a location very near to the award
winning Mains of Taymouth Country Estate & Golf Course.
Fans of the show
visit where many of the scenes were filmed and we are lucky enough to be right
on their door step!
When Outlander author Diana Gabaldon dreamt up the idea
I’m sure she never envisaged the success and the massive boost to Scottish
tourism it would bring.
Why not don that period clothing and take to the hills
and discover Outlander country for yourselves?
Rannoch Moor has been described as "the largest
abstract painting the world" - a walk through this unique landscape of
grass, heather, peat, water and mountains is an unforgettable experience and is
no wonder that Sam Heughan the
lead actor has been quoted as saying Kinloch Rannoch was his favourite
location.
The Majestic splendour of Doune Castle near Stirling is featured in Season 1
of Outlander. It plays a leading role as the fictional Castle Leoch which is
home to the Mackenzie clan. It also featured in the 20th century
episode where Claire and Frank were visiting the castle ruins. It was built as
the home of Regent Albany, ‘Scotland’s uncrowned king’.
Why not walk in the footsteps of
rulers both real and fictional. Doune Castle is a popular filming location for
not only Outlander but also Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Game of
Thrones.
