It's a Dogs Life!!!!

With statistics showing that 24% of the UK’s households own at least one dog, and a dog population of 8.5 million, it just goes to show we are a nation of dog lovers!
With our breath taking scenery and wonderful walks who would want to leave their four legged companion at home?
I know here at Mains of Taymouth Country Estate & Golf Course, we would not. The majority of the staff here own at least one dog with some of the team owning three, so we know a thing or two about dogs!

We welcome all dogs, all breeds and all sizes on to the Estate. Many of our guests comment on how welcome they are made to feel. It starts with check-in, you are encouraged to bring your dog into Reception so we can all swoon over your precious friend. Then each dog receives their own welcome bag containing a map of walks, spare poo bags and a treat (and sometimes a goodie out of our secret stash!)
From then on it is Canine bliss all the way.

A quote from one of our guests:
“The accommodation is brilliant set in beautiful surroundings.  So very dog friendly; our spaniel was welcomed in the courtyard and was even allowed to join us on the golf course!  The walks around the area are amazing”.
Why not come and see for yourself? Take you

With viewing figures of over 1.402 million it is no wonder that Outlander is so popular. At last the new release date for season 4 with thr tagline Brave the World has been announced for Sunday 4th November. We at the award winning Mains of Taymouth Country Estate & Golf Course cannot wait! On a recent dog walk round Faskally Forest there was great excitement with all the locations trailers and period clothing galore!

Fans of the show visit where many of the scenes were filmed and we are lucky enough to be right on their door step!

When Outlander author Diana Gabaldon dreamt up the idea I’m sure she never envisaged the success and the massive boost to Scottish tourism it would bring.

Why not don that period clothing and take to the hills and discover Outlander country for yourselves?

Rannoch Moor has been described as "the largest abstract painting the world" - a walk through this unique landscape of grass, heather, peat, water and mountains is an unforgettable experience and is no wonder that Sam Heughan the lead actor has been quoted as saying Kinloch Rannoch was his favourite location.

The Majestic splendour of Doune Castle near Stirling is featured in Season 1 of Outlander. It plays a leading role as the fictional Castle Leoch which is home to the Mackenzie clan. It also featured in the 20th century episode where Claire and Frank were visiting the castle ruins. It was built as the home of Regent Albany, ‘Scotland’s uncrowned king’.

Why not walk in the footsteps of rulers both real and fictional. Doune Castle is a popular filming location for not only Outlander but also Monty Python and the Holy Grail and Game of Thrones.

After your exhilarating day out return to the comfort and luxury of  Mains of Taymouth Country Estate and enjoy our wonderful accommodation and surroundings in the heart of rural Perthshire.

Whilst staying with us you can enjoy Perthshire's finest 9 hole Golf Course, The Courtyard Bar & Restaurant, the award winning Courtyard Shop & Deli  and stables all available onsite.
